Description of Site Visit Organizations for the Unique Nursing Experience in Russia for Nurses and Nursing Students

Designed by Sean McGivern, MS, Russian Consultant (Contact through e-mail at seanmcg140@aol.com)

A number of health care delivery and educational organizations are available for options as site visits. These options provide a variety of possibilities for selection and organization into an individualized itinerary of site visits based on the interests and clinical/educational backgrounds of those comprising the US nursing group. The health care organizations include both hospital and clinic/outpatient organizations. There are nursing programs as well as schools and an orphanage for more of an educational focus.

This combination of health care and educational organizations provide options to target learning about Russian nursing, health service delivery and nursing and general education through site visits. Each visit is scheduled for 2-3 hours and will follow a set agenda to include an overview of the organization as to purpose and functions, the role of the nurse and an opportunity for US nurses to interact with key organization individuals and nurses. For student nurses there is an opportunity to interact with Russian nursing students and do a health teaching project.

Please review the Unique Nursing Experience in Russia for Nurses and Nursing Students Sample Itinerary to examine how a set of site visits can be integrated into visiting and experiencing Russia.
